Lt. Gov. Gilchrist II and Rep. Jasmine Crockett
One of the raps on Democratic Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist II, who is running for governor, is that he doesn't have enough pizzazz or charisma to topple his opponents and land in his boss's seat.
Now comes the latest—perhaps an attempt to disrupt that narrative: a video titled “POV: You're About to Elect Michigan's First Black Governor.” It features Gilchrist and Democratic Texas U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett standing back-to-back, bopping and mouthing the words to the Nicki Minaj song “Beez in the Trap.” (See video below.)
Crockett, who came to Michigan to help raise funds for Gilchrist, mouthed the racy lyrics of the song:
Bitches ain't shit and they ain't saying nothing
A hundred mothafuckas can't tell me nothing
I beez in the trap, be-beez in the trap
I beez in the trap, be-beez in the trap

That's what I'm saying! Michigan has so many black people! Way too many black firsts in states that have big black populations. I'm always excited to witness it but it should have been ages ago.
